Fettuccine with Alfredo Style Sauce
A creamy and cheesy Alfredo Sauce

[4 Servings]    Cooking time: 20 minutes
 

3/4 pound fettuccine (dried)

< Alfredo Style Sauce >
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
2 tablespoons margarine or butter
2 cups low fat milk
1 cup grated cheddar cheese
2/3 cup leeks, chopped finely
1/3 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon pepper

< Garnish >
4 tablespoons parsley, chopped

1. Cook the fettuccine according to the instruction on the package.

Image of stirring mixture of ingredients of Alfredo Sauce ingredients 2. To make Alfredo Sauce, place the flour and margarine or butter in a microwave safe bowl (4 liter or 4 quart) and cover. Cook on HIGH (1200W) for 30-40 seconds. Take the bowl out and stir well with a wire whisk. Gradually add 1/2 cup of milk at a time, stirring constantly until you use all the milk.

3. Cover with a vented microwave lid* and cook on HIGH (1200W) for 2 minutes. Take the bowl out and stir. Cook on HIGH (1200W) for 2 more minutes.

Image of mixing pasta with sauce. 5. Gently mix in the pasta until it is well coated with Alfredo sauce. Transfer to warm serving plates and garnish with parsley.

* When using plastic wrap as a cover, poke a hole in the center to release the steam.
