Pear Compote and Ice Cream with Bavarian Sauce
This desert is a delicious combination – pear compote, ice cream, and raspberry sauce

[4 Servings]    Cooking time: 20 minutes (excluding overnight refrigeration time)
 

4 scoops vanilla ice cream
1/2 cup whipped cream (ready to serve)
4 mint leaves for garnish

< Raspberry Sauce >
4 tablespoons raspberry jam
1 tablespoon water
1 teaspoon rum

< Pear Compote >
4 fresh pears skinned (2/3 lb each)
2 cups 7-up
1 tablespoon lemon peel, finely shredded
1 cinnamon stick
1/4 cup brown sugar

Photo of pears made ready for microwave cooking. 2. Place the pears in a microwave safe bowl (2 1/2 liter or 2 1/2 quart) and add the brown sugar, lemon peel, cinnamon stick and 7-up.

Photo of poking a hole in the center of a plastic wrap cover. 3. Cover with a vented microwave lid. * Cook on HIGH (1200W) for 3 - 4 minutes. When it starts to boil, reduce the power to LOW (30%) and cook for 7 - 8 more minutes.

Photo of pear compote made ready for serving 4. Take out the bowl, cover with a lid and refrigerate overnight.

5. Place each pear on a serving plate and slice it in half and core. Add the ice cream; decorate with whipped cream and the <Raspberry Sauce>. Garnish with mint leaves to serve.

* When using plastic wrap as a cover, poke a hole in the center to release the steam.
